When Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins) needed a bold way to launch Ogilala, his first solo album in a decade, we redefined what a music entertainment could be. Aeronaut wasn’t just a VR project—it was an immersive, world-first experience, merging creativity with cutting-edge tech, and dedication to craft.
The Challenge
How do you relaunch Billy Corgan’s vision for a whole new generation—and drop his first solo album in a decade—in a way as bold as his music? A simple music video wasn’t going to cut it. Fans today expect something they can feel, explore, and step inside.
The Insight
People don’t just want to watch their favorite artists—they want to experience them. By blending immersive tech with raw performance, we could turn a music video into something deeper: a personal, emotional journey through Corgan’s creative universe.
The Solution
We built Aeronaut VR—the world’s first holographic VR music video. Volumetric capture, hand-painted surreal worlds, and a fully immersive performance that let fans step inside the story. Not just a music video—an entirely new kind of experience.
Captured as a hologram in Microsoft’s Mixed Reality Studios and animated with Google’s Tilt Brush, we created a dreamlike performance that lives in virtual space. The project was awarded the Cannes Grand Prix for Digital Craft and landed Isobar on Fast Company’s Top 10 VR/AR Companies list.
